Danish Festival

It is with great excitement that the Danish Festival Board of
Directors announces a new event for the 48th Annual Danish
Festival called Art @ The Green sponsored by Ed Koehn Ford
Lincoln Chrysler Dodge Jeep. This event will be a contest for artists
to display their work at selected venues throughout Greenville.
This competition will help promote the arts in West Michigan and
encourage more visitors and artists to our beautiful Greenville area.

Pam Jorae, Danish Festival Executive Director said “The hope is
to put Greenville on the map by bringing more culture and events
to the community.” Jorae hopes to attract participants from all over;
Grand Rapids, Montcalm County, Lansing and other surrounding
areas.

Applications can be obtained at the Danish Festival office
or can be downloaded from the Danish Festival website,
www.danishfestival.org. Contest details are as follows:

Must be 18 by August 4th, 2012 to enter

Application must be turned into the Danish Festival Office by June 1,2012
Mail application to Danish Festival, Inc. PO Box 211- Greenville, MI 48838 or drop off to Danish Festival office-2nd floor of Huntington Bank-203 S. Lafayette Street-Greenville
Artist will be notified of your Venue (to be determined by Art @ the Green committee) July 2,2012
Artist are to contact Venue by July 7,2012
Installation of Artwork must be completed by August 4,2012
Contest runs for two weeks
Winners announced on August 18,2012
Please submit your application with a $25.00 non-refundable entry fee.
Prizes are: 1st place-$700.00 2nd Place-$400.00 3rd place-$200.00

The exhibit will run from August 4 through August 31, 2012 and the
art will be displayed at various participating Greenville businesses.
Voting will take place at four selected venue locations to be
placed at north, south, east and west areas of Greenville. Voting
will be done by the public and will conclude on August 17th the
winners will be announced at the Danish Festival Presents concert
series: “Centerville” concert to be held at the Greenville Performing
Arts Center on August 18th.

The Danish Festival is committed to host a festival that celebrates
the homecoming of family and friends and our area’s Danish
heritage. It is the belief that this new event will continue to carry on

Danish Festival Announces Annual Poster Contest

Greenville, MI February 7, 2012– Each year the Danish Festival seeks an original poster to celebrate the current festival theme. This year’s theme is “The Snow Queen”. Original designs in any medium are acceptable for the contest. The artwork should represent the Hans Christian Andersen story of “The Snow Queen” in a creative but realistic interpretation. The artwork must not have been previously reproduced. There is no limit on the number of entries; but each entry must include the artist’s name, address and phone number on the back of each entry. The finished artworks should be on paper and no smaller than 12” X 16”.

The winning poster will be on display before, during and after the festival. In addition to being used in advertising the festival, the poster design will appear on shirts, iron on appliqués and other promotional items.

Artwork should be hand delivered to the Danish Festival office on the 2nd floor of the Huntington Bank Building before the deadline or mailed to PO Box 211, Greenville MI 48838. Winners will be notified by the Danish Festival office on approximately April 2, 2012. All decisions will be final.

The Danish Festival Committee will display the contest entries at the Huntington Bank Building from approximately April 2nd through April 23rd. The winning poster will be revealed in conjunction with the unveiling of the 2012 Hans Christian Andersen Mural, location to be announced.

All entries (excluding winning entry) need to be picked up at the Danish Festival office by May 1st, 2012. After May 1st the Danish Festival will not be responsible for storing the 2012 entries.
